Forme is a letterpress publication which investigates science’s explanations of the world around us typographically.
Issue 03, ‘Tearful’, tackles an expression of emotion unavoidable to us all: crying. In a commissioned feature, clinical psychologist Ad Vingerhoets explains the different sorts of tears, whether their release actually makes us feel better, and if holding them back is really a bad thing. There is also a look at the origin of the phrase ‘crocodile tears’ and a rundown of the top ten tearjerker movies.
The pamphlet, which can also be displayed as a poster when unfolded, has been printed from hand-set metal type. Printed letterpress, ‘Forme’ refers to the locked-up arrangement of type inside a chase for printing.
